Virgins in France

We are running free on the highway. Wind in our hair, sun in our face and the open road ahead.

Suddenly we were overtaken, whilst others took up position alongside and behind us. It was no good running: we pulled into the kerb before the sirens and blue flashing lights started.

Sally and Iain’s C2C Tandem Experience

We had bought each other half a tandem for Christmas, and thankfully the two bits fitted together, our daughter was at school camp for a week and we were looking for a challenge. The C2C looked like it might be it.

Tandem Ride around Rutland Water (Empingham Reservoir)

The route is a circuit of 17 miles unless you ride around the peninsula, which adds on another 6 miles, however, it is well worth the extra ride.

If you get bored of the ride around the reservoir you can also take a small diversion and visit the Rutland town of Oakham, which is on the edge of the reservoir.

Whitby, Scarborough, Whitby by Kate and Andy

Most sane people would go on the train... by Martin and Yvonne

From Martin and Yvonne of the Ripon Loiterers

Martin – “Fancy Edinburgh for the weekend?”

Yvonne – “that sounds nice, you mean on the new Santana tandem of course“.

And that was how this all started. The comment in the title was made by a colleague, and as he gets the Ripon Loiterers emails he will remember making it.

The plan was to cycle there on the pretty route i.e. no main roads all the way, and then get the train back. Apart from one or two mishaps (read on) that is what we did.
