As an about to be tandem owner, I have examined a load of web sites and at the moment have come down to favouring either the Orbit Pegasus or the Dawes Galaxy Twin.

I have ridden and toured on a Super Galaxy single for a number of years and it has never let me down.  However I wonder if the bar end shifters will be less of an advantage on the tandem than the STI fitted to the Orbit.  Any Comments please?

It is my plan to test ride both bikes in the near future

smile Hi MW3230 being a bike rider road / mountain bike I don’t think you can go wrong with STI.
The bar end shifters are on the drops and watching other riders, how many times do you see them down there. Answer not very often, now watch a rider on a modern road bike and he rides on the hoods.
Where you can change gear and brake without having to change your position.
I think you and your stoker have to try for yourself, both bikes and both systems, and then make your own minds up. Have fun, on what ever tandem you choose. Have lots of fun and don’t take it to serious as they don’t race tandems in the tour de france, YET, but one day they might. grin
