Yesterday we went to the Eurobike in Fredrichshafen for the first time and was completely blown away by it all, went mainly for the mountainbikes but couldn’t help to notice a certain tandem display, namely Santana.Manned by two happy, helpful blokes called Wolfgang Haas and Marc Schneider. In the middle of the display was a mtb tandem prototype hardtail with 10” stoppers and plenty of other fruit for under 3000euro. Now my wife doesn’t normally get to excited about tandems but even she said she could see that in our garage beside the Cannondale, so maybe we might be joining the Santana family soon (+/- a couple of years). Was also very impessed by how small the touring tandems fold down with the couplers and into such a small case, half the size of my mtb bike bag.Well we will see what time brings I suppose. Cheers for now Southie.

Hi Southie

As soon as this mtb tandem comes off the production line, we’ll have a demo for you to try.

Hi Southie

Its great to have someone from outside the UK on the forum.  I went to Frauenfeld in May for the Santana tandem rally, wow, what a great place to ride.  Your motorists have the most amazing attitude to cyclists.

Hi Ruth
It’s certainly a small world as we live about a 10 minute bike ride from Frauenfeld in one of the neighbouring villages. Yesterday we rode the tandem from Frauenfeld to Diessenhofen crossed the Rhein over the old wooden bridge into Germany, then onto Stein am Rhein, back over the Rhein and up the hill to home.(approx 65kms)Yes the motorist are good here, I was back home in West Aussie earlier this year with one of my other bikes and couldn’t believe how rude they were there, just felt like a moving target the whole time, and from what I’ve heard they aren’t much better in the UK. (correct me if i’m wrong) Cheers Southie

Hi Southie

Most motorists in the Uk are considerate, its like everything in life, its a small minority that aren’t.  I find its better on the tandem as you have more presence than on a solo.
