I would have thought with wars in Iraq and Afghanistan,Al-Queda supposedly targetting the UK,climate change, the collapse of North sea cod stocks and John Prescott that the Government would have enough on its plate without forcing cyclists to attach bells.

Populist flannel in my opinion in order to be seen to be pandering to the, unfortunately,*I hate cyclists lobby* whilst keeping car drivers sweet.

Anyone can write laws, but theres no one to enforce them.
So why worry?  smirk

I agree, Pedlar you’re correct but say you have an unfortunate incident, say you hit a person, or even if they walk out in front of you, then the blame stands firmly on the cyclist if you have no bell.

My view is that this law is coming from London. I can go for a 2 hour ride and not see one person, let alone have to use a bell!!

smile As quick as a flash I would say” Your honor my veil flew up and covered my eyes” therefore I couldn’t see my bell “oh no someone has nicked it!!” recon I’d get away with it question

Hi Jonathan

I want to know how to have a signature, both you and Pedlar have one, please explain.

PS who wears a veil when riding on the front of a tandem.

Why not use a bell.  all my bikes have ting ting bells.  For reasons I cannot understand walkers prefer you to use a bell.

I think folk who ride without them are out of order.
