smile Hi everyone, yes I am back again cheese with a little story concerning the Tandem Club message to the World that Tandem riding is Twice the Fun.
wink What they forget to tell you is that mechanical problems also come in Two’s!
Stokes and I did the Dartmoor Devil, Puncture plus blowout rear tyre X2
Today I was Captain Test pilot for two brand new Tyres, they performed brilliant. 81 miles perfect.  grin
Today we rode to Dartmouth from Plymouth on a lovely sunny day with a strong headwind all the way home,
and as always hills to numerous to count.
The decent of Averton Gifford Hill was at 51mph into the wind, so who knows what might have been achieved.  wink

But back to the Twice the Fun bit.
As always I find it is Twice the Fun, however today we lost the chain between Stokes and I on the same stretch of road as we did last time, that was on our way out to Dartmouth.
On the return route I got the rear drive chain stuck between the big and middle chain rings not once but Twice.

And on our re-entry into Plymouth at the bottom of the hill we were about to climb, we managed to loose the chain linking Stokes and I for the second time.
So definatly Twice the Fun but also Twice the mechanicals.
Has anyone else had the same findings as Stokes and I?
I would be very interested to hear about them.
Cheers from Pedlar smile

Hi Pedlar

John and I have reduced the amount of mechanicals we have as we have got better over the years at preventing problems.  But in the past we had had many problems, some pilot error - did I use that word!  I mean front rider error and some worn equipment.

The only time we had to cut a ride short though was when we set a hydraulic on fire, and in our early days of tandeming we were complacent enough to run with just 2 brakes.  Needless to say one brake wasn’t enough so we had to turn for home.

Nice to have you back on the tandem and the forum.
