I don’t actually own a tandem, but obviously working at a tandem bike shop you soon ride most of the stock at some time or another.
My first experience was a Santana enduro off road tandem, which is owned by my bosses John and Ruth. This bike is designed for off roading, so that’s what we did. John asked me if i was up for it, and naturally I was (not knowing what it was going to be like). We rode over to Swinsty Reservoir and did a route over there in the snow. We dropped every solo bike on the flats, but uphill was a little more steady, off road climbing was awesome though, with us both giving it big licks. The highlight of the ride was John losing the front wheel on a 45 degree piece of wood next to the waters edge.
