John and I have just got back from the Santana Tandem Rally in Switzerland. There were about 60 tandem teams and some fantastic family tandems, with triplets, quads and trailers. One quad had a female front rider with 2 kids behind, then her husband and then a trailer with another kiddy in it – respect!

It was a memorable night in many ways at the Manchester Velodrome on Friday night. On one hand, all the riders in the Great Britain Team performed brilliantly with either World or British Records to their name during the night.

I learnt a new means of leverage yesterday.
At the end of a 7 day tandem tour in the pouring rain, through the Dales and the Lakes, what I really fancied was a some good food and wine in Chesters cafe at Skelwith Bridge, followed by some retail therapy at Touchstone Interiors next door.
So how did I persuade John off the tandem and into the shops?
By agreeing to climb Kirkstone Pass in the most persistent rain I have had the displeasure to experience for at least a day or two.
So the way to a mans heart – forget food or romance – promise him a good climb instead !

These two in the picture are my fiancé Antonia and I with our tandem bike which we will use for our journey from Sheffield, UK to Los Alcázares in Murcia, Spain.
On our arrival we will get married in the Town Hall in Los Alcázares

The FREE annual 3 day event (sponsored by Landescape & Santana Tandems) to encourage Tandeming for everyone, held alongside the only UK Tandem Triathlon in Bishops Castle, Shropshire – now in it’s 21st Year and organised by the South Shropshire Sports & Leisure and the local community. The event is expecting to attract over 300 people over the weekend – a great gathering, don’t not miss it!

June and I have become keen tandemists following our purchase of a tandem last year so when we found out that our young grand daughter had been diagnosed at 2 1/2 years old with type 1 juvenile diabetes we decided to put our new hobby to good use.
