Why Do People Ride Tandems?

More fun, less work!
Most of our first impressions of tandeming come from riding next to one on an organised ride.
We first realise that tandems are fast.
Next, we notice their riders are having fun.
Even at race speeds, the team can share a normal conversation.
When confronted with this contradictory image of speed and leisure, most people assume the riders of fast tandems must be incredibly fit.
After all, tandeming couldn’t be this fast and easy – especially for beginners.
There must be a catch. But that’s what it’s like on a tandem, you ride faster and farther with less work!
