Test ride model available.The Velocity Steps EP801 is our flagship electric assist model in the Orbit range.
Built using a lightweight aluminium frame, the tandem uses the Shimano Steps EP801 250W motor and a 630 Wh battery.
Battery weighs 3.5kg, and takes 5 hours for a full charge, however, it is 80% charged after the initial 2 1/2 hours.
Range of course depends upon rider weight, wind, tyre selection & altitude gain, but it can be as much as 80 miles per charge.
The 250W motor is the highest output system that is road legal in the UK, giving up to 85Nm of torque. The EP801 is the top end system Shimano produce and has the greatest amount of torque of all of their systems which makes it very suitable for tandem use.
This type of electric assist is called a mid-drive system, the engine runs through the gears, and correct use of the gears when climbing make the system really efficient, and allows a light weight motor to be used whilst still giving out a great amount of torque, which is needed for pedalling up the hills.
Built in North Yorkshire, and finished with top quality components from Shimano the Steps EP801 is designed for couples who want a high performance electric assist tandem.
Sram GX Eagle AXS wirless gearing and Hope Tech 4 V4 hydraulic disc brake make this model amazing.

This tandem is 248cm long with both wheels in and 210cm long with the front wheel out in the 19/15 size. In the 21/17 it measures 250cm long with both wheels is and 212cm long with the front wheel out.
